About Me

I’m Laura and I’m a self-professed tea addict. I have so many teas that my apartment is more like a tea shop – just ask my partner, he’ll tell you that I have a tea for any ingredient or flavour profile you could ever want.

I like to say that there is a tea for every mood and I’ve certainly got all possible moods covered.

Along with my love (obsession?) of tea, I love to bake and dream up new delicious creations to try on my family and friends.

 My Story

My love of baking comes from my mother – to this day, she is the designated “event celebration cake maker” for everyone in the family. Her cakes are always beautiful and once she discovered Pinterest, her creativity with cakes sky-rocketed. I definitely get the creative baking gene from her.

My curiosity with baking began with seeing my mom create these magnificent cakes and wanting to be able to make them myself. I was constantly looking through cookbooks filled with beautiful pictures of all kinds of baked goods and decided I wanted to be able to create gorgeous desserts of my own.

I started experimenting with flavour combinations that you could call classics, trying them out on unsuspecting family and friends. When the reviews seemed to be positive, I decided I could branch out a little and try other, more creative flavour combinations. These also seemed to go over well, and more and more people wanted to know where I found these recipes.

When they found out I had come up with the combinations myself from various sources of inspiration – well, let’s just say that was the gateway to this blog! It brings me so much joy to try out new recipes and I thought this was the perfect platform to share my recipes.

I hope you get inspired to try these recipes yourself and wow all of your family and friends! Or, you know, eat a half-dozen cupcakes yourself because they were just calling out your name (and you HAD to make sure they were edible before offering them to other people).

After all, what goes better with tea than a mouth-watering dessert?

How I work

I draw inspiration from a variety of avenues. Usually, I’ll see a combination of flavours and think, “Hey, that would be awesome in cupcake form!” and go home and try to figure out how to make those flavours shine through in a dessert. Sometimes it works on the first try, and sometimes it takes a few batches to get the perfect combination of flavours. (Thank you to everyone who has ever been a guinea pig while I’m trying to find the perfect recipe!)

I also take inspiration from those closest to me – my partner has been a huge source of inspiration, you will see many recipes on here that have been heavily influenced by him.

I would also love to hear from you. If there’s a flavour combination or some kind of dessert you would like to see, send me a message below!
